Journalist Lou Parajos Dead at 64

Former Ridgewood resident is known for leading the New York Daily News' coverage of 9/11.

A longtime village resident and editor of the New York Daily News died last Monday at the age of 64.

Lou Parajos, 64, died of heart failure at his new Washington Township home, relatives told the big apple daily. The former Ridgewood resident left the Daily News in 2005 after a 35 year career in which he climbed to managing editor.

"Sweet Lou" helped lead the tabloid's 9/11 coverage and was known in the newsroom for his gruff demeanor.

His funeral was held at Van Emburgh Funeral Home in Ridgewood on Saturday.
