3 Residents Arrested in Separate Incidents

Police blotter Dec. 13 to 19.

Three village residents were arrested last week on separate charges related to different incidents.

One was arrested on drug-related charges, another for an underage drinking violation, and a third on an outstanding warrant, according to the Ridgewood Police Department.

Detective Peter Youngberg observed a vehicle driving north on Oak Street at a very low speed and in an erratic manner Dec. 15 at 9:54 p.m.

During a motor vehicle stop, a male, 20, was found to be in possession of four bags containing marijuana. He was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, possession CDS in a motor vehicle, and failure to keep right. He was released pending a future date in Ridgewood Municipal Court.

On Dec. 16, Detectives Douglas Henky and Peter Youngberg arrested a male on an outstanding warrant from the Fairfield Municipal Court. He was released after posting $500 bail.

Ptl. Kevin McKeon and Colin Donnelly responded to a report of a possible drunken driver Dec. 17. McKeon spotted the vehicle on Berkshire Road.

During a vehicle stop it was determined that the driver had not been drinking. A passenger in the vehicle, though, became disruptive and interfered with the investigation. The passenger was asked for identification and during this interaction it was determined that he had been drinking.

The male, 20, was arrested and charged with underage consumption of alcohol. He was released pending a future appearance in Ridgewood Municipal Court.

  • A Terhune Road resident reported a burglary that reportedly occurred between 9:15 a.m. and 1:55 p.m. Dec. 15. Entry was gained by prying the back door open, police said. The master bedroom was ransacked and an undetermined amount of jewelry was taken. The incident is under investigation by the Ridgewood Detective Bureau and the Bergen County Sheriff's Department BCI.
  • An investigation conducted by Henky ended with the arrest of a male, 38, of Linden, Dec. 17. He had taken a deposit from a resident that had contacted him through Web site Craigslist.org to have work done at his home. Due to that investigation Henky determined that he had outstanding warrants. Arrangements were made for him to come to Ridgewood for an estimate. When he arrived, he was arrested and also found to be in possession of seven bags of heroin. The male was charged with theft by deception on the original case and possession of Heroin. The accused was remanded to the Bergen County Jail on $25,000 bail.
  • Stop and Shop reported that four males entered the store and allegedly climbed over the gate into the liquor department and stole numerous bottles of alcohol Dec. 17.  The matter is under investigation by the Ridgewood Detective Bureau.
