$90,000 In Valuables Stolen, Police Say

Weekend police blotter.

A weekend burglary resulted in $90,000 in valuables stolen from a village residence, Ridgewood police said.

A Lakeview Avenue resident reported a burglary to her residence Feb. 8. The resident told police she noticed jewelry valued at $10,000 and china and silverware valued at $80,000 missing from her home. The matter is under investigation by the Ridgewood Police Department Detective Bureau.

  • A Ridgewood resident reported Feb. 6 at 2:01 a.m. that he was assaulted while walking through Station Plaza. However, he was unable to describe the person who had assaulted him. The man was transported to The Valley Hospital to treat his injuries. 
  • In a conducted a motor vehicle stop Feb. 6, Ptl. Anthony Mormino stop arrested a resident for marijuana possession. During the stop, Mormino smelled marijuana, and the driver, an 18-year-old from Ridgewood, turned over a metal container with marijuana inside. The driver was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia, failure to inspect his vehicle, a controlled substance in a motor vehicle, and a provisional license offense. He was released pending a future appearance in Ridgewood Municipal Court.
  • A Norwood resident reported Feb. 7 that he was on Maple Field on Feb. 3 and an unknown person took his bag containing personal items. The matter is under investigation by the Ridgewood Detective Bureau.
