Another Home East of Route 17 Ransacked

Area near the highway has been a target of burglars in recent months

Another home east of Route 17 in Ridgewood has been burglarized, according to .

In a news release Tuesday, police said burglars forced their way into a home on Norgate Avenue Monday afternoon through a first-floor window and ransacked the master bedroom. Detectives and the Bergen County Sheriff's BCI squad are investigating the burglary, which took place at roughly 4:15 p.m.

Due to its proximity near the highway, the far east section of town in the last eight months. The Ridgewood News reported last week there were nine burglaries in that viscinity in 2011.

There have also been burglaries at homes on Wyndemere and Linwood Ave west of Route 17 since January.

Police say they're stepping up patrols to combat the burglaries with both marked and unmarked cars. They ask residents to report any suspicious activity or vehicles immediately. Most burglaries, according to police, seem to occur between 3 and 7 p.m.
