UPDATED: Bicyclist Struck on South Maple

Site of accident is same as earlier strike this week; police issued two citations to the driver Sunday.

The intersection of Walton and Maple Avenue was the site of a bicyclist strike late Sunday afternoon, the second strike this week in the area. Lt. David McDermott said a vehicle was turning left onto Walton Street from South Maple when the cyclist, traveling south, was struck.

The cyclist, he said, was transported to Valley Hospital with an arm injury. Two summonses were issued to the driver, who was driving a blue sedan. A bicycle was shoved into the trunk of the nearby police cruiser.

On Tuesday, a pedestrian was crossing the Ridgewood Medical Center building on S. Maple (adjacent to Walton) by a Carlstadt man, police said. The injury to the woman, a nurse, was considered minor and the driver was issued two citations related to the accident.
