Burglars Hit Boat Parked on Ridgewood Lawn, Cops Say

Two cars parked in village driveways were also broken into last week, police say.

A recent rash of burglaries from parked cars in Ridgewood has spread. According to a new release from the Ridgewood PD, just about anything you park outside your house might be a burglary target.

In a release from Chief John Ward Wednesday, cops said an Orchard Place resident reported that a GPS was stolen from a boat he had parked on his property. The theft happened sometime during the day on Sunday, police said.

That marked the third incident of that nature last week, cops said.

On April 1, a Gateway Road resident reported that he found his car window broken and items stolen from the vehicle, Ward said. Police said they are still determining exactly how much was taken from the car.

And, on April 5, a Phelps Road resident reported his parked car was entered, but nothing was stolen, police said.

All three incidents, on the heels of at least five similar burglaries in the village last month, are currently under investigation.
