Police say they are looking for a man who allegedly stole items from an 83-year-old as she was entering her South Maple Avenue Apartment.

Ridgewood cops say they are looking for a man who they believe ripped shopping bags and a purse from an 83-year-old village resident’s hands when she was returning home Saturday afternoon.

According to a release from the Ridgewood Detective Bureau Tuesday, the senior citizen told police she was entering a South Maple Avenue apartment at about 2:07 p.m. Saturday when she noticed a man working on his motorcycle in the driveway. Before she got inside, the man allegedly grabbed her grocery bags and purse and fled on the black motorcycle, police said.

While cops were responding to the incident, another resident reported seeing a suspicious person on Woodside Avenue, police said. According to reports, the man stopped on his motorcycle, riffled through the bags he had, and then fled, police said.
