Cops: Man Punches TD Bank Employee During Bad Check Getaway

Ridgewood Police are looking for a suspect who they say fled in a gray Volkswagen Sunday afternoon.

Police are in search of a man who they say punched a TD bank employee in the face after a transaction gone wrong in Ridgewood over the weekend.

According to a release from Police Chief John Ward, an employee of the TD Bank on Franklin Avenue locked the door at closing time, 1 p.m., on Sunday. At about the same time, a customer attempted to cash a fraudulent check at the bank, police said.

When the customer tried to flee the bank and saw that the door was locked, he allegedly punched the employee, took her keys, unlocked the door, and ran out, police said.
