Discovery of Custom Golf Balls Could Lead to Willard Burglary Suspect

A burglar suspected of targeting the Ridgewood neighborhood broke into a car on Bedford Road and took a club and balls.

Village police say , and they're looking for custom "pin-up" golf balls that may lead to the suspect.

According to Ridgewood Detective Douglas Williams, a resident reported his vehicle was broken into on Bedford Road in August. The items taken include a golf driver and some custom-made golf balls, the resident reported.

It's just the latest report of theft police have fielded in the neighborhood.

Police believe a single suspect is responsible for a slew of vehicle and home burglaries reported in the area since mid-July.

The suspect enters occupied homes through unlocked windows or doors, removes cash from wallets and stages the scene to make it appear the items were undisturbed, Williams said. Area vehicles have also been targeted, according to detectives.

In separate incidents previously reported to police, golf balls and clubs have been snatched from unlocked garages around the Willard neighborhood.

So, caddyshackers, if you've seen the pin-up golf balls or have any other information that can lead to the apprehension of a suspect, give Williams a call at 201-251-4537.
