Drivers Cited in Separate Pedestrian Accidents

Teens were transported to hospital Friday afternoon.

The number of pedestrians struck by vehicles in Ridgewood in the last several months increased to eight, including the three teens, who were taken to the hospital on Friday afternoon.

In two separate incidences, two 13-year-old boys were injured when they were struck by a Ford pickup truck on the corner of Oak Street and Linwood Avenue around 3:30 p.m.

The driver of the truck, a 42-year-old male from Midland Park, was given a citation for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

Meanwhile, a teenage girl, also walking home from school at about 3:30 p.m., was struck by a vehicle as she crossed East Ridgewood Avenue at North Irving Street. The driver of that vehicle, a 20-year-old female from Bloomfield, was driving with a provisional license. She was also cited for failing to yield to a pedestrian.

In both cases, the teens were taken to Valley Hospital. Their conditions are not known.
