Heroin Found in Stolen Car after Police Chase, Cops Say

Paterson resident in stolen car allegedly took cops on a chase from Glen Rock to Fair Lawn.

Glen Rock police found drugs in a stolen car following a pursuit of the vehicle out of the borough and into Fair Lawn Sunday morning, according to authorities.

Officer Michael Trover stopped a black 1993 Toyota Corolla near the Fair Lawn border around 11:30 a.m. Sunday for an equipment violation, Detective Sgt. Eric Reamy said.

When the officer approached the vehicle, the driver, Richard Hollingworth, took off, according to police.

The 30-year-old Paterson resident led police on a chase on Fair Lawn Avenue, then down Chandler Drive, where he abandoned the car in a parking lot and tried to outrun police on foot, Reamy said.

After a brief foot chase, Trover tackled and arrested Hollingworth, the detective said.

Police said they found heroin and hypodermic needles in the car.

A passenger, Rebecca Santiago, 30, of Linwood, walked away from the car but was later pointed out to Sgt. Frank Riggio by witnesses, and arrested on a disorderly persons charge.

Hollingworth was charged with drug possession, receiving stolen property, resisting arrest and eluding police, and is being held on $25,000 bail.
