East Orange Man Arrested On Outstanding Warrant

Police blotter April 13 to April 20.

Police arrested an East Orange man April 13 on an outstanding warrant from Newark. 

Investigating a door-to-door solicitor, Ptl. Joseph Youngberg responded to Phelps Road at 2 p.m. Jermaine Reed, 26, was located, and found without a valid permit.

A warrants check revealed an outstanding warrant from Newark. He was taken into custody and released after posting bail.

  • A South Broad Street resident reported April 16 that someone had removed checks from his checkbook. The checks were then used to make purchases. The matter is under investigation by the Ridgewood Detective Bureau.
  • Patrol responded to Rite Aid Pharmacy on East Ridgewood Avenue for a juvenile shoplifter April 16. A store employee observed the juvenile opening an item and consuming it with out purchasing it. The juvenile was released to her parents pending juvenile court action.
  • A Hillcrest Road resident reported April 17 that they found their vehicle was entered during the night. A purse that had been left in the vehicle was taken and a GPS was found on the ground that did not belong to the victim. The case is under investigation by the Ridgewood Detective Bureau.
  • A burglary to a storage unit at 6 Wilsey Square was reported April 17. The victim had tile stored in his area and found that numerous boxes of tile had been take. The case is under investigation by the Ridgewood Detective Bureau.
  • A Walton Street resident reported that numerous pieces of jewelry had been taken from her home April 17. The victim had people working in the home and noticed the items missing after they had left. The case is under investigation by the Ridgewood Detective Bureau.
