Glen Rock Brush Fires Stalled Trains

Commuters were delayed by brush fires caused by burning leaves Monday afternoon.

Leaves near switching gear caught fire along the NJ Transit tracks in Glen Rock Monday afternoon, forcing transit delays.

According to Glen Rock Volunteer Fire Department Chief Tom Jennings, firefighters spent about an hour battling three separate brush fires. Leaves near three separate switching gear areas caught fire, Jennings said.

Trains were halted for about one hour, beginning at around 3:30 p.m. There were no reports of injury and trains are now running on their normal schedule. Six trains were affected, according to NJ Transit.
