Glen Rock Police Officer Wins Big at a Special Olympics Fundraiser

Motor officer Adam Pyatak took first-place trophies in three events at a fundraiser on Sunday.

The following was issued by the Glen Rock Police Department.

On Sunday June 23, 2013, Motor Officer Adam Pyatak competed in the New Jersey Special Olympics Motorcycle Skills Competition to raise funds for the organization. This event features challenging courses with civilian and police divisions, conducted by members of the NJ Motorcycle Officers Training Association.  

Special Olympics New Jersey provides opportunities for children and adults with intellectual disabilities to become athletes. Law Enforcement has been proudly participating in events and partnering with Special Olympics for many years. For example, the Law Enforcement Torch Run is part of an international campaign for Special Olympics which the Glen Rock Police Department participates in each year.

Fundraising events are conducted year-round in New Jersey and The Motorcycle Skills Competition is yet another way for Glen Rock to raise awareness for the Special Olympics.

Motor Officer Pyatak took home 1st place trophies in all events.

1st Place in the Motor Officer Division/Expert. This course is a timed event where the officers must complete eight cone courses without hitting any cones and have the fastest time.

1st Place in the Challenge Ride/Expert. This course is set up to be extremely challenging with very tight cones and obstacles and is also timed, no practice runs are permitted.

1st Place in the Slow Ride/Expert. This course is also a cone event where the officer must maintain balance at a very slow speed without touching the ground for as long as possible while in a confined area.
