Glen Rock Teen Charged with Hosting House Party

An 18-year-old borough resident was charged with making alcohol available to underaged teenagers at a house party he allegedly hosted Saturday night, according to .

Alex Chang was charged with a slew of offenses related to hosting a party at Cornwall and Elmwood Avenue, authorities said Monday.

At about 12:30 a.m. Sunday, borough police responded to a report of a house party and a fight in the street at the intersection, said Captain Jonathan Miller.

As police arrived, a 17-year-old boy who reportedly suffered a laceration to his head in a fall, ran away from the party, prompting officers from Glen Rock, Ridgewood, Fair Lawn and Bergen County to assist in a foot chase, Miller said.

The officers were concerned for the teenager's safety due to his head injury, Miller said. He was later located at his home, according to Miller, and taken to Valley Hospital.

According to police, Chang was arrested and charged with making property available for underage drinking (known as the 'host law'), possession of a fraudulent government document (driver's license), maintaining a nuisance, possession of a controlled dangerous substance (marijuana), possession of drug paraphrenalia, and violation of the borough ordinance's prohibition on underaged alcohol possession.

No other injuries were reported and the party was broken up shortly after police arrival, according to authorities.
