Glen Rock Teen Sold Heroin to Undercover Detectives, Prosecutor Says

Authorities say that following a drug arrest earlier this year the 18-year-old Glen Rock resident continued to distribute drugs.

A Glen Rock teenager already facing charges of distributing heroin was arrested this week after selling the drug to an undercover detective on three separate occasions, Bergen County Prosecutor John Molinelli said.

Tristan Rodas, 18, was arrested by borough police for heroin distribution in June at Glen Rock High School, where he was then a student, after a lengthy investigation by detectives, police said at the time.

Following the arrest, authorities said, police continued to receive "numerous citizen complaints" about Rodas’ alleged drug dealing in the Glen Rock area.

On two occasions last month, once on Aug. 13 and again on Aug. 22, Rodas allegedly sold a total of $240 of heroin to an undercover detective from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Narcotic Task Force.

Rodas was arrested by members of the task force and Glen Rock Police Department on Tuesday after police say he again sold two bundles of the drug, valued at $140, to an undercover detective.

The prosecutor’s office has aggressively targeted both the sale and use of heroin since a reported spike in overdose deaths in 2012. Earlier this year, a four-month probe by the office’s narcotic task force netted over 100 arrests of alleged dealers and users county-wide.

Rodas was charged with one count of distributing heroin and one count of eluding police, and sent to Bergen County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.

In a release, Molinelli thanked Glen Rock Police for their assistance with the month-long investigation.
