Glen Rock Theater Hosts Fundraiser for Producer Who Lost Leg in Accident

Hillsdale woman is recovering from an accident last year when a New Milford senior citizen ran her over in the parking lot of the Westwood Trader Joe's.

A theater in Glen Rock is hosting a fundraiser for one of its producers, a Hillsdale woman who lost part of her leg when she was hit by a car in Westwood last year.

Five Corners Theater Co. recently posted information about the Open Mic Night fundraiser on its website. The ‘Rootin for Ruta’ event is scheduled for Saturday night at 8 p.m. at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Highwood Avenue in Glen Rock.

Proceeds from the show will be donated to aid in the recovery of Ruta Fiorino, an employee at the Trader Joe's in Westwood who was severely injured when she was hit by a customer's car last November. The 75-year-old New Milford driver was charged with careless driving after the accident.

On its website, 5 Corners said it was hoping the Open Mic Night will urge the community continue to help the Fiorino.

“Ruta, her husband Dean, and their three sons are part of the Five Corners family and so we dedicate this night to them,” the theater wrote on its site. “We hope in some small way this will help them on their road to recovery.”
