A Hawthorne woman is facing DUI charges after police say she crashed her Lexus into a utility pole Saturday night and knocked out power to residents around Lincoln Avenue.

Cpt. Jonathan Miller said Carol Maas, 50, of Hawthorne, struck a utility pole on Lincoln Avenue around 9:30 p.m. Saturday night, knocking down lines and cutting off power in the neighborhood.

Maas did not suffer injuries in the crash, Miller said. She was charged with driving under the influence (DUI), refusal to submit to a breath test and careless driving.
