Jeep Struck by NJ Transit Bus, Flips

No injuries reported in the Wednesday afternoon auto accident in Glen Rock.

A Wyckoff man's vehicle was overturned after being struck by a New Jersey Transit bus late Wednesday afternoon at the intersection of Rock Road and Ackerman Avenue in Glen Rock.

Hampton Kortjohn was behind the wheel of his Jeep Grand Cherokee and attempting to pass a bus turning left from Ackerman Avenue onto Rock Road when his vehicle was struck at 5:20 p.m., Kortjohn told Patch.

The driver said he was passing on the right when the force of the collision flipped the car onto the driver's side.

"It scared the hell out of me," Kortjohn said. "Thank God I was wearing a seat belt."

Kortjohn was uninjured and refused medical attention. Police reported no injuries to passengers on the 175 bus.

Officers on scene said the accident remains under investigation and could not provide further details.

The intersection of Rock Road and Ackerman Avenue was closed to traffic for more than an hour.

Kortjohn received a citation for improper passing, he said.
