Man Allegedly Tries to Lure Student into Van From Bus Stop; Police Asking Public for Information

The incident occurred on Wednesday morning at the corner of Bingham and Eastbrook; police are looking for Middle Eastern man in his 40s wearing a turban.

Parents should be on the lookout for a man that had allegedly tried to lure a high school student into his green van on Wednesday morning.

The district sent out a statement to parents noting that at 7:05 a.m. on Wednesday morning, a high school student was waiting for the school bus at Bingham and Eastbrook when a man described as Middle Eastern, in his 40s with a turban, allegedly asked the student if they'd like a lift.

The student reportedly refused to hop in the green van and the man sped off as a second student arrived at the corner, police reported in the statement.

Police have been patrolling the area in both marked and unmarked cars and are asking the public to provide any information they may have pertaining to this case. The detective bureau can be contacted at (201)-251-4537.

Police did not offer any additional information regarding the incident when asked on Saturday.

This is at least the third incident in less than two years involving a district student who's been approached by a stranger with an offer of a ride, or has witnessed a lewd sexual action directed toward them.
