Multiple Break-ins Reported in Ridgewood

Laptop, cash taken from popular bagel store, police said.

Thieves hit up a business, a house and a car in Ridgewood over the last week, according to village police.

On Jan. 24, West Side Bagels told village police someone entered the store and managed to make off with a laptop and an undisclosed amount of cash.

Four days later, a Parsons road told police that someone entered her car and grabbed several items.

Burglars also entered an unlocked garage and stole cash from several vehicles on Glenview Road over the weekend, Ridgewood police reported.

Detectives are investigating the three incidents.

A friend, who is a detective in a neighboring town, says that burglaries in the past couple of months have skyrocked thorughout Bergen and Passaic Counties. Everyone needs to be more attentive to locking their doors, putting night lights on and being a little more observant of strangers and unfamiliar cars in their neighborhood

I still can't believe there are residents who are still so naive to leave their homes, garages, and cars unlocked. There have always been robberies, but ever since the economy went south, they have skyrocketed. Dennis is right about being observant, but it all involves common sense, robbers can't rob what is locked up.
