New Jersey Ranked 14th In Police Fatalities Nationwide, Report Says

The recent deaths of two New Jersey police officers has made the state 14th in police fatalities.

New Jersey has been ranked 14th on the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund Preliminary 2014 Fatality Statistics list, according to nj.com.

The recent deaths of on-duty Waldwick Police Officer Christopher Goodell and Jersey City Detective Melvin Santiago are the first police fatalities in the state since 2012. 
Nationwide, police fatalities have jumped 30% since 2013, with a total of 70 on-duty fatalities.
