A fire that claimed a Ridgewood barn Saturday evening did not cause any injuries, according to a CliffviewPilot.com report.

The Cottage Place barn was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived at about 6:45 p.m., the report said.

The owners were not at the barn at the time of the fire, and it was reported to the Ridgewood FD by a passerby, the report said.

The cause of the fire was unknown, but the barn was "gutted" by the blaze, it said.

Agree with Ridgewood Mom. JAFO - what will it take for you to appreciate our paid Fire Department? They are there in a flash whenever there is a fire, and this one looks like it was a doozie. Who knows, the house might have caught on fire if they had not gotten there quickly. Is it so difficult for you to say something nice?

Posters like Jafo usually have a personal axe to grind, they tried and failed to get on the FD. or they got a ticket from a cop, or they are just miserable in their own lives. When someone is constantly negative, they lose their credibility even when their criticism is warranted.

I actually don't have any issues with the FD and count some of their volunteers among my friends. But let's be honest, a volunteer department could have handled this call. In fact, I would guess that a large number of responders were volunteers.
