One Injured in Car Crash at S. Van Dien and Grove St.

Ridgewood police investigating cause of the accident, which occurred Monday night just after 9 p.m.

One person was transported to the hospital after being involved in a two-car accident at the intersection of S. Van Dien and Grove St. Monday night, according to police.

It was not immediately clear as of Monday night how the wreck occurred.

As police directed traffic and EMS workers hoisted a stretcher into the ambulance, a Honda Civic layed disabled in the middle of the intersection with major front end damage. Nearby on the sidewalk, a Toyota's back end pressed against a crushed street sign. The Toyota appeared to have been hit on the driver's side.

Lt. Forest Lyons said police are investigating the cause of the accident. Lyons could not elaborate on the victim's injuries but said ALS (advanced life support) was called off in treating the victim, which is a good sign.
