Alleged Grocery Store Thieves Nabbed by Cops

Glen Rock police say one of the two men arrested Monday was linked to a shoplifting incident earlier this month at the Food Basics.

Glen Rock police say two men tried to steal about $100 worth of items from Food Basics on Lincoln Avenue before they were apprehended by police. One was a familiar face, according to local police.

According to Det. James Calaski, Richard Haun and Roy Schmitt stuffed approximately $100 worth of merchandise into jackets and backpacks. They were confronted by store security and picked up by police on Diamond Bridge Avenue.

Haun, 40, of Paterson, was linked to another shoplifting incident that occurred at the same Food Basics on Nov. 7, police said. Records show Haun has prior arrests for shoplifting in other Bergen towns.
