Police: Youths Drinking Underaged

Police say a few juveniles were getting libations in two separate incidents.

Patrolman John Chuck responded to Phoenix Avenue on Feb. 11 at about midnight on report of disruptive juveniles, police say. The force says Chuck found a large amount of liquor in a vehicle the youhs were standing next to and John Duva, 18, of Ridgewood, was charged with posession of alcohol while underaged and posession of a false ID. Duva was released with a future date in municipal court, the cops added.

  • Police say two sweet sixteen attendees were drunk

In more allegations of youthful indiscretion, police say they responded to the at 9:30 p.m. on Feb. 12 after hearing of a drunk juvenile at a sweet sixteen party. Police reported that two youths were drunk and taken to Valley and detectives are still investigating the matter.

  • Home window shot

A North Monroe resident reportedly told police that on Feb. 13 the front window of his house was shot with a pellet; detectives are looking into the matter.

  • Alleged shoplifting attempt unsuccessful

Patrol stopped by on Feb. 14 on report of shoplifting at the chic women's clothing store, police said. Employees reportedly told police they'd seen two Hispanic females in the store and when they left, the alarm went off. According to the employees cited in the report, the two fled the scene after dropping a large bag, which was recovered. Patrol was unable to find the two individuals, police said but are continuing to investigate the incident.
