Resident Arrested on Drug Charges

Craig Andrews allegedly disrupted traffic while in possession of drugs, police said.

A Ridgewood resident was arrested on drug charges after police found him standing in an intersection screaming.

Craig Andrews, 42, was arrested March 4 and police charged him on five counts—three drug-related.

Patrol responded to East Glen and North Maple Avenues at 10 p.m. on a report of man in the middle of the street. Officer John Chuck found Andrews, who then jumped into a taxi. He started yelling that he was God and reportedly made no sense.

While attempting to take Andrews into custody, the officers smelled marijuana. Andrews was charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, possession of marijuana, possession of cocaine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was released pending a future appearance in Ridgewood Municipal Court.

  • A West Glen Avenue resident reported March 2 that she received a letter—stating that she won $8,000—and a check for $998. She was to cash the check and wire the money to a company. When the resident attempted to cash the check she was informed that it was fraudulent. The matter is under investigation by the Ridgewood Detective Bureau.
  • A resident reported March 2 that someone had charged $810 to her Avenue credit card in January. The matter is under investigation by the Ridgewood Detective Bureau.
  • A resident reported March 5 that he had met a woman on a dating Web site. She agreed to visit him if he sent her traveling money from New Jersey to Mississippi. The victim sent $700 via Western Union.  A male picked up the money in Mississippi. The matter is under investigation by the Ridgewood Detective Bureau.
  • Walnut Street residents reported March 10 that they returned from vacation and found their home burglarized. Reportedly a laptop, jewelry and a coin collection were missing. The matter is under investigation by the Ridgewood Detective Bureau and the Bergen County Sheriff's Department BCI.
