Retired Glen Rock Police Officer Dies at 92

Armand Joseph Pace, a 57-year resident and police officer for 26, died on Christmas

One of died on Christmas at the age of 92.

According to the obituary posted on Legacy.com, Armand Joseph Pace served as a police officer in Glen Rock from 1952 to 1978, and was also a gifted saxaphonist who played in the Army Air Corps Band during the Second World War. He was a resident of Glen Rock for 57 years after being born and raised in Paterson.

"He was a well-respected, well-liked police officer who was a credit to the borough and served the residents of the borough in exemplary fashion," Mayor John van Keuren said at last Wednesday's council meeting, as the flag flew at half mast.

"I met him when I moved into town years ago when he had already retired but I heard great stories about him and what a tremendous police officer he was," Councilman Michael O'Hagan, pubic safety committee chairman, remembered Wednesday. "I just wanted to wish our condolences to the family. He was a great police officer who served the town for a long time and he will be missed."

Joseph was the loving husband of Violet M. Pace, father of Denise Jaffe and her husband James, of Hawthorne; Regina Trucil and her husband Edward, of Hawthorne; grandfather of Tod Monahan and his wife Amy; Stephanie Jaffe; Daniel Trucil; Lisa Trucil; and brother to the late Leo Pace, who died in 1986.

The obituary states that Pace, a parishioner of , was cared for by Louisa Vargas, who was aided by friends and neighbors.

The funeral was held on Wednesday, Dec. 28. The family requests memorial donations be made out to the or the Glen Rock Police Department.
