"Village staff, particularly our public safety and street personnel, have been tracking the storm and taking steps to mitigate the storm's impact," Mayor Paul Aronsohn said Friday afternoon. "The weather is dangerous, and to the extent possible, residents should stay at home."

Between 12-18 inches of snow are expected to wallop the area in the next 24 hours, with the heaviest snow expected to arrive at about 6 p.m. The winter storm warning remains in effect until 1 p.m. Saturday.

Power outages are expected due to ice accumulation and high winds, Glen Rock's Office of Emergency Management said in a statement Friday.

Roadways in both towns are already hazardous, though major thoroughfares are seeing frequent plowings by public works officials in both towns.

Parking rules have been suspended on Friday and Saturday to allow for street plowing in Ridgewood. Business district residents can park in the Cottage and Hudson lots.

The borough has requested that residents check in on neighbors who may need assistance.

"If the need arises, we will open Borough Hall as a warming/charging center," Glen Rock's OEM said in a statement.

Schools let out early in both Ridgewood and Glen Rock on Friday. The scheduled Jamboree performance had to be canceled due to the weather on Friday, organizers said. Ticket holders should check the Jambo website in the coming days for more details.

[Update at 5:20 p.m. Friday: Jamboree cannot reschedule the show as of now, organizers write, so Friday night ticket holders can exchange their tickets for the Saturday show at 7 p.m. Tickets are not guaranteed due to availability.]
