The elderly man mixed chlorine, pool shock, and warm water in a bucket, igniting a mini explosion, report says.

A Ridgewood senior citizen was not injured when he ignited an explosion in his garage last Wednesday by mixing pool chemicals together, CliffviewPilot.com reported.

According to the report, the man mixed chlorine, pool shock and warm water in a bucket while in the garage of his Willow Court home. Ridgewood Police Officer Rosario Vaccarella was passing by at the time, heard the small explosion, and removed the man from the garage, the report said.

He was transported to Valley Hospital for evaluation and observation, and the Ridgewood FD vented the garage and removed remaining chemicals, the report said.
