Ridgewood Police Chief Reading to Kids for Pilot Program

As part of its ongoing community policing initiative, the village cops will be joining forces with the library for children's story time... with cookies.

Starting Thursday, June 27 at 11 a.m. Ridgewood Police Chief John Ward will be dropping by with a box of cookies and a book. His goal is to "provide children and parents the opportunity to meet and speak with the chief outside of an official setting and to encourage reading among children," the department said in a press release.

So stop by the library auditorium and meet up with Ward and the librarians – if nothing else, you'll get some free cookies out of the deal.
