Ridgewood residents may notice an increased police presence outside village schools. According to a recent note to school parents from Police Chief John Ward, the increase is a response to recent child luring attempts reported in nearby towns.
Ridgewood “is monitoring these incidents and working with other agencies to share intelligence,” Ward wrote in a note that was sent home this week.
“There have been no reported incidents in Ridgewood, however, marked and unmarked patrols have been increased around the school and recreational areas throughout the village as a precaution.”
Police recommended local parents talk with their children about what they should do if approached by a stranger.
According to nj.com reports, there have been six reported attempted luring incidents in Bergen County over the past two weeks.
In the letter, Ward asks Ridgewood residents to be “extra vigilant” and report any suspicious incidents to 201-652-3900.
