Series of Car Burglaries Hit Ridgewood

Three reports logged in the last week, according to police.

Car burglars have struck numerous vehicles in Ridgewood over the last week, according to .

Chief John Ward said Monday that officers logged three reports of burglars breaking into vehicles, two of which were just blocks apart.

According to the police chief, between Tuesday and Wednesday, a car on Cliff Street was breached with a GPS stolen. Between Wednesday and Thursday, a car on Undercliff Court also had a GPS device grabbed. Further up on the East Side, a resident on Red Birch Court this past weekend reported a handbag in her vehicle was rummaged through. Items taken were not disclosed.

There were no reports of forced entry, Ward said.

"We would like to remind citizens not to leave valuables in the vehicles," he remarked, advising residents to also not to leave spare keys or driver manuals in the car for burglars to nab.

Last fall, . Numerous handbags were found nearby in a dumpster. No suspects were apprehended.
