Uptick in Vehicle Thefts Reported in Ridgewood

Ten vehicles in Ridgewood have been broken into over the past week, according to village Police.

The department said in a news release that all 10 were entered overnight and multiple items were reported stolen. Thieves appear to have been (again) targeting the East Side. Five thefts were reported in the Salem Ridge section near Route 17.

The remaining five vehicles were entered on July 18 around Hawes Elementary School. Police said those cars were unlocked and parked in driveways.

Spikes in vehicle thefts have also been reported in neighboring Washington Township, according to village police.

Anyone with information regarding the thefts is asked to call police at 201-652-3900.
