Congratulations to the lieutenant, but it would have been better if he had been told to put his LEFT HAND on the bible while raising his right hand. The two women look pretty silly standing there like that!

Very observant The Flea. Does this mean the oath, while recited, is not official. Anyone know?

it is not invalidated. reciting the oath is the only part that matters. the other part is symbolic. having your hand on the bible is not even required, as some peoples religious beliefs prevent them from doing so.
