While Residents Away, Parties and Thefts Occur

Police blotter Feb. 18 to 22.

Two vacationing residents reported break-ins following their return to Ridgewood. 

After leaving Feb. 12, Bogert Avenue residents reported Feb. 20 that someone had entered their home. The residents reported money and other items missing to Ridgewood police.

Returning Feb. 22, Glenwood Road residents found their home to have been the victim of several parties. Although nothing was reported missing, it was evident that numerous parties were held in the home while they were away.

Both matters are under investigation by the Ridgewood Detective Bureau.

  • An employee of the custodial service for the Ridgewood Board of Education reported graffiti at Orchard School Feb. 18. He told police it happened overnight, as the graffiti was not present when he went home for the day, but was the next. Spray paint was found on an exterior wall. The matter is under investigation by the Ridgewood Detective Bureau.
  • A Linwood Avenue resident reported Feb. 18 that his open garage was entered and his Craftsman pressure washer was taken. The matter is under investigation by the Ridgewood Detective Bureau.
  • A Grove Street resident reported Feb. 19 that between July 24 and 27, 2008 a diamond ring valued at $14,000 was taken. The resident did not report the incident until now, hoping it was missing. The matter is under investigation by the Ridgewood Detective Bureau.
  • An Oakland resident reported Feb. 19 that she went to The Valley Hospital and had her vehicle valet parked. She left her purse on the front seat. When she returned $1,470 in cash and checks were missing. The matter is under investigation by the Ridgewood Detective Bureau.
  • A River Edge resident reported Feb. 22 that she had parked her vehicle in the YMCA parking lot on Oak Street. When she returned, she noticed that her child was able to open the car prior to her unlocking it. A bag containing numerous items was found missing. The matter is under investigation by the Ridgewood Detective Bureau.
