Brigadier General Returns From Afghanistan to Fly Flags Over Glen Rock

Back from a nine-month deployment, Kristin Knapp French will be on hand for a special dedication on Friday. Her mother, Carol, will also be receiving a bench in her honor.

Glen Rock's most decorated military officer will be returning to the borough on Friday afternoon.

U.S. Army Brigadier General Kristin Knapp French will be presenting American flags flown over her headquarters in Afghanistan to the borough and local American Legion and VFW posts.

Knapp French is the first female brigadier general to serve in Afghanistan, where she coordinated supplies and logistics.

She's a 1982 Glen Rock High School graduate.

Her family will be well represented on Friday.

Her mother, former councilwoman Carol Knapp, will have a bench dedicated in her name at Borough Hall. Carol Knapp served on the borough council for 25 years.
