Cory Booker Campaigns in Ridgewood

Senate candidate brought the tour bus to E. Ridgewood Ave. on Friday.

Newark Mayor Cory Booker took to the streets of Ridgewood on a rainy Friday afternoon to shore up more support for his U.S. Senate run.

The frontrunner for the Democratic nod met Ridgewood Mayor Paul Aronsohn at Starbucks before greeting residents and merchants at nearby stores, including DoubleTake, Cupcakes by Carousel, the movie theater and Sherwin Williams.

Booker is expected to defeat Rep. Rush Holt, Rep. Frank Pallone, Assembly Speaker Sheila Oliver in the Democratic primary on Aug. 13. He'll likely face off with former Bogota mayor Steve Lonnegan, a Republican, in the special election in October.

The celebrity mayor recently opened a campaign office on Godwin Avenue in Ridgewood.
