Glen Rock Residents Express Worry Over Turf Field Costs, Report Says

Citizens tell borough council the $2.5 million estimated cost to transform Faber Field is too great for taxpayers to bear.

Now that private fundraising efforts have all but dried up, Glen Rock residents are worried they'll be saddled with the costs of an upgraded Faber Field, according to a recent report.

Residents at the most recent June council meeting told the mayor and council it would be "irresponsible" for taxpayers to foot the $2.5 million bill for the proposed project, according to the northjersey.com.

Grassroots group Game On! Glen Rock has thus far raised a net total of about $60,000, well short of the funds needed to begin construction.

Lower Faber Field is rendered a mud bowl following rain events, often leading to game rescheduling or cancelations. The plan calls for baseball diamonds atop a multi-purpose field and an adjacent soccer field.

Borough officials maintain they're merely exploring potential fundraising options and have not committed to funding a project, even with favorable interest rates on capital bonding.
