Bergen County's Board of Chosen Freeholders will be holding a public hearing in June on their proposed expenditures for the Municipal Park Improvement and Land Acquisition Program.
The program is part of the Open Space Trust Fund for 2010. Grants from the program will help municipalities fund improvements to parks and recreational facilities. The county plans to spend a total of $2,026,852 in 45 different communities.
Ridgewood is slated to receive $20,632 for the improvement of the playground on Veterans Field. Village Manager Ken Gabbert did not elaborate on what kinds of improvements might be upcoming for the enclosed playground.
If the freeholders pass the spending plan, the projects are eligible to begin on or about August 11 and must be completed by February 11, 2013.
The board will be hearing public comment on the proposed allocations during their meeting beginning at 6:30 p.m. on June 20 in the Freeholder Public Meeting Room on the fifth floor at One Bergen County Plaza.
Comments and questions can also be submitted prior to the meeting to Robert Abbatomarco, Department of Planning and Economic Development, One Bergen County Plaza, Hackensack, NJ 07601.
