Ridgewood Sets Up Voter Registration for Special Primary

Registration drive for the senatorial primary to be held July 23 at the Ridgewood Public Library.

Voter registration for the special senatorial primary to fill the seat of the late Sen. Frank Lautenberg will take place Tuesday, July 23 in Ridgewood.

The Ridgewood Public Library has been set up from 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. for voter registration for the Aug. 13 primary. Conservative Steve Lonnegan is expected to receive the Republican nomination, while Newark Mayor Cory Booker leads a pack of Democrats that includes Rep. Rush Holt, Rep. Frank Pallone, and Assembly Speaker Sheila Oliver.

Former New Jersey Attorney General Jeffrey Chiesa was appointed to take Lautenberg's seat by Governor Chris Christie until the special election, to be held on Oct. 16. Chiesa will not be a candidate in the election.

All residents of Ridgewood 18 years or older and a citizen of the United States are eligible to vote. New Ridgewood residents as well as those who moved to another address within town must re-register to be voter eligible.
