With Flu Season Beginning, Glen Rock Offers Shots

Flu season is here, but borough residents need not fear.

Glen Rock will be offering seasonal flu and pneumonia shots for adult residents age 18 and over Monday.

Flu cases typically begin in mass when the weather cools, but often begins as early as September. The first case this season was reported by Hackensack University Medial Center this week, according to a report by The Record.

In addition to the obvious steps of washing your hands, public health officials recommend the vaccine, which takes two weeks to become effective.

Jane Clementi, the supervisor of public health at Valley, recommended on the hospital’s blog that everyone six months and older receive the shot by the end of November, in preparation for a peak in cases in January and February.

Glen Rock will offer the shot at borough hall Monday, Oct. 7 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at borough hall. Medicare B will be accepted, or payments of $20 for the flu shot and $65 for the pneumonia shot.
