Ridgewood Housing Market 9th Most Expensive in NJ, Survey Says

Coldwell Banker Real Estate survey ranks housing prices around the country.

The range of housing prices in New Jersey is wide, and the same size abode could cost anywhere from $134,000 in Irvington to roughly ten times that price in Stone Harbor.

That’s according to a new survey by Coldwell Banker Real Estate of housing prices around the country, which ranks Ridgewood close to the top in the state, with the ninth most expensive housing market.

Of the 1,997 housing markets the agency surveyed, the village came in at 1,395 most expensive, with the average four-bedroom, two-bath house going for $698,123.

Bergen towns Wyckoff and Mahwah were even more expensive, coming in at No. 4 and No. 8, respectively.

The real estate company conducted an “apples to apples” survey, comparing the prices of four-bedroom, two-bath homes. Only towns where there were more than 10 such listings in the first six months of 2013 were compiled.

Of course, a lot goes into housing values, and Ridgewood has consistently earned high ratings in education, public safety, and a Coldwell study earlier this year said the village ranked at the top of the county in terms of economic growth.
