Winners of 2013 Photo Contest Announcd

We have announced the winners of our New Jersey Gardens Summer Photo contest!

The contest was launched on July 1 as a way to encourage local residents to stay active in the garden. It gave amateur photographers and nature enthusiasts an opportunity to hone their photography skills, while also learning to care for a garden. Not surprisingly, the contest drew a variety of impressive entries.

First place winner, Jay Cannata of Midland Park, N.J., will receive a $100 Kodak gift certificate. Second place winner, John F. Pastore of Allendale, N.J., will receive a set of gardening books that detail perennial care and garden design.

Entries in the contest portrayed public gardens, state parks, and residential gardens. Both winners captured the beauty of gardens that had been tended to personally by New Jersey residents for years, perhaps proving that hard work in the garden pays off in more ways than one.

We received so many impressive photographs; it was hard to pick winners, but Jay Cannata’s photo included such a variety elements, it was impossible to ignore. John F. Pastore’s photograph entitled ‘Eleanor’s Garden’ was a close second.
