Construction to Start on 'Learning Commons' at Ridgewood High School

New media center will be funded by a combination of board of education money and fundraiser profits, report says.

An upgrade project at the Ridgewood High School library that will see it turned into a "learning commons” media center is set to start construction this week, NorthJersey.com reported.

According to the report, the construction will close the library to students for the rest of the school year. The project plans to add study spaces, more and better technology, conference rooms, more seating and different types of furniture, computer and printing stations, and an enhanced research service, the report said.

The project will be funded by a combination of about $500,000 from parent group fundraisers and $928,000 the Board of Education budgeted for the project, the report said.
