Ridgewood business administrator Angelo DeSimone has been issued the Distinguished Service Award for northern New Jersey by the state's school board association.
DeSimone has served as the district's assistant superintendent for business since 2005. He recently announced he would be retiring from the district at the end of the school year.
"It's been the best years as a BA I've spent," DeSimone previously told Patch. "I like working in Ridgewood."
The New Jersey School Board Association (NJSBA) issues annual awards based on region and position.
Ridgewood very well could have to replace its business administrator and superintendent next year.
Superintendent Dan Fishbein's was named the 2012-2013 superintendent of the year by his colleagues for the state's northern region. His contract expires at the end of the year and would be facing a pay cut of about $50,000 should he stay in New Jersey.
