GRMS, GRHS Limiting Building Access as New Security Policy

Measures take effect for the first day of school, Sept. 5.

The following statement was issued by the Glen Rock Public Schools system.

Over the next few months, a series of new security measures will be introduced at and with the goal of providing improved security for students and staff. Phase 1 will begin on the first day of classes –Wednesday, Sept. 5 – when new limitations will be put into place for gaining access to the building on school days. All students and visitors should become familiar with the following schedule:

7 a.m. ­– Students may enter the building via entrances at Hamilton Lobby, Harristown Road (Auditorium Lobby), the Music Wing, the middle school parking lot and the Sports Lobby.

7:50 a.m. – All exterior doors with the exception of the Hamilton Lobby will be locked.  Students and visitors will only be able to enter the building through the Hamilton Lobby doors.

3:07 p.m. – All students who do not have a teacher meeting, a club meeting or sports/performance practice will need to exit the building at dismissal time. Until 6 p.m., the only open entrance to the building will be the Hamilton Lobby doors. All students, including those reporting for sports practices, will need to enter the building through the Hamilton Lobby.

6 p.m. – The Sports Lobby entrance will be unlocked and will remain open until all sports activities are finished for the day. The interior double-doors leading into other areas of the building will be locked. There will be no access to the remainder of the building beyond the high school gym and locker rooms from the Sports Lobby.

The Hamilton Lobby doors will remain open on week days until all evening activities are over.

During school hours, visitor parking is available in the Hamilton Lobby lot and along the baseball field fence as marked by signage. Vehicles illegally parked in the Hamilton circle fire zone or in numbered spaces will be ticketed.
