Incumbent Moore Details Why She's Not Running for BOE Seat

Glen Rock school board member Terry Moore says she's "worn out" and won't seek election in November.

Incumbent won't be running for re-election in the fall and said Monday she was just "worn out."

A former member of the Glen Rock Borough Council, Moore was appointed to fill the in June of 2011 after she abruptly resigned.

Moore at the Monday school board meeting said she was honest in telling the board she wasn't sure she'd run again when the seat was put to the election test in 2012.

"I had to evaluate how I would fit the role, mesh with the other board members and learn more of the workings of the board," Moore said.

Though said she didn't question the hard work and dedication of the board, Moore found "the manner in which information is distributed and decisions are made inhibiting to the way I like to function as a member of a group and participate in the decision making process."

Moore thanked the members for the opportunity to serve and expressed hope she's made a "positive contribution" in the year she's served. She said she's looking forward to helping select a new superintendent after in the spring.

"It was a difficult decision but I think I'm just worn out," Moore said with a laugh.

Incumbents Gene Calderon and Barbara Steuert in the November election. Similarly, residents Liz Carr, James Chung and Sean Massaro also filed their notice with the county clerk for the three open seats.

The status of Massaro's candidacy isn't clear after indicating the 18-year-old EMT will focus on his collegiate studies instead of serving on the school board.

, extending terms of current members by six months. As a result, the school budget is now out of the public's hands.
