Ridgewood Cheerleaders Attend TV Pep Rally with Regis Philbin [Video]

While the Ridgewood Maroons have rolled out to a 4-0 start this football season, their cheerleaders took some time Friday to rally support for a team that hasn’t been so hot on the gridiron.

The RHS cheerleaders, taking the lead of iconic television personality Regis Philbin, appeared in a "pep rally" for the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars on his new Fox Sports show “The Crowd Goes Wild.”

The girls took to their familiar routine on the live broadcast, which aired Friday at 5 p.m. The show put on the pep rally for the struggling team, which has yet to win a game this season.

While putting on a cheer for the Jags didn’t quite propel the team to a victory – they fell 0-6 to the Denver Broncos on Sunday – the appearance fits a trend of increased attention for the traditions surrounding Maroons football.

The RHS Marching Band, which plays at each home game during the football season, made a live television appearance of its own last month, going live from the high school field on a CBS morning show.

Kelly Bomzer, the school's cheerleading coach, said that the squad participated in other aspects of the broadcast, and has further plans to appear on the program.
