Too Many Snow Days Cut Ridgewood's Spring Break

So far, it's two days shorter.

Ridgewood Schools have already used more snow days than were built into the 2013-14 school calendar, and students in the village will have a shorter spring break as a result.

According to a note sent home to parents and posted on the district website from Superintendent Daniel Fishbein, there were two emergency days built into the calendar this year. So far, the district has closed four days for inclement weather – January 3 and 22, and February 3 and 5.

The discrepancy, the letter said, will be reconciled during April break, as school will now be open on Monday and Tuesday, April 14 and 15. If additional snow days are needed, Wednesday will be the next date reinstated into the calendar. Good Friday will remain a day off either way, the note said.

Fishbein closed the letter saying he hopes the weather pattern changes, however, according to the National Weather Service, snow is likely to once again hit the region beginning Wednesday night.
